The learning objectives for this course are intended improve patient outcomes through bench alignment principles for the SpryStep, Custom SpryStep and Vector AFO technology. Examination of alignment criteria for the ankle angle and tibia angle are translated to explain the biomechanical impact the device will have relative to the patient’s biomechanical deficiency. Correlations and differences between prosthetic bench alignment and orthotic bench alignment are reviewed to help provide clinical rationale for both methodologies. The undeveloped science of orthotic alignment rationale is expanded and detailed relative to the manufacturing principles associated with SpryStep composite technology. This information will improve the clinician’s ability to make informed decisions regarding alignment rational and help predict the intended performance outcome of the device.
